What is ISO 16890 and why is it important?

Since July 2018, the EN779:2012 standard has been replaced by ISO 16890. This new standard divides filters into different categories based on the size of particles they can filter:

  • ISO Coarse (<50%) - Sand, lint, hair

  • ISO ePM10 (≥50%) - Pollen, stone dust

  • ISO ePM2.5 (≥50%) - Mould spores, toner dust

  • ISO ePM1 (≥50%) - Combustion particles, viruses

How often should you replace a WTW filter?

It is recommended to change WTW filters at least twice a year. This helps to:

  • Reduce energy costs by making the ventilation system work more efficiently.

  • Reducehealth complaints such as allergies and respiratory problems.

  • Extendthe life of your WTW unit.

Replace your heat exchanger filter yourself: how to do it

  1. Switch off the WTW unit.

  2. Open the filter flap and remove the old filters.

  3. Place the new filters in the frame and make sure they are tightly fitted.

  4. Close the valve and turn the unit back on.

Frequently asked questions

1. How do I know when my WTW filter needs to be replaced?

When you notice a decrease in air quality, more dust in your home or when your ventilation system starts working harder, it is time to change your filters.

2. Can I clean the filters and reuse them?

No, it is not recommended to clean and reuse the filters. This can reduce filter performance and negatively affect air quality.

3. Where can I order new WTW filters?

You can order the HQ Replacement filter set via our webshop.
